The Government’s Warm Homes Plan has recently been announced and aims to deliver £15 billion of public investment to help UK households.
We welcome its launch – we’re always looking for ways to help customers like you take control of your energy use – and believe that sustainable home solutions should be affordable and accessible for all.
As our CEO, Chis Norbury, said: “We welcome the Government’s action through the Warm Homes Plan and its clear focus on practical measures that will help households bring their energy bills down.”
He also highlighted that the most effective way to cut bills is by empowering customers to generate and store their own energy. When combined with flexible time of use (TOU) tariffs like Next Smart Saver, it could create an approach that “...puts control in customers’ hands, pounds in their pocket and turns the energy system into something that works for people, not the other way around.”

The Warm Homes Plan explained.
The Warm Homes Plan – not to be confused with the Warm Home Discount – is a £15 billion government initiative to help families across the country improve energy efficiency around their homes.
How is the Government planning to do this? By helping millions have easier access to smart tech like solar panels home batteries, heat pumps, and insulation. The plan aims to help many types of households, with low income households and renters being the priority.
This news follows the Government’s recent Warm Homes Discount announcement made in the Budget, which is due to take effect in April 2026 as part of a wider strategy to help one million families tackle fuel poverty and long term energy costs.
Chris Norbury finished saying: "By taking strong action to make sure new energy works for everyone by combining access to innovative solutions with significant funding support, the Government is helping unlock real, everyday benefits. It means lower bills, simpler choices and a positive energy transition that people can feel directly in their homes and communities.”

Lowering your bills: insulate, generate, store, and use energy smarter.
Government support will play an important role in helping households, while they consult on the plans, there are steps you can take today to help keep your costs down and make lasting changes in how you use and create that power.
We think the future of saving energy is about four factors:
Effective home insulation to reduce energy waste, cut heating costs, and boost warmth and comfort.
Generating your own energy (e.g. solar panels and heat pumps).
Storing it for later (using a battery).
Using energy at ‘off-peak’ times when it's cheaper (using a time of use tariff).
Your first and simplest step: start with your tariff.
Lowering your bills isn’t as complicated as you might think. The first and possibly quickest step could be switching to a smart time of use tariff, where the price of electricity changes depending on the time of day.
Using energy draining appliances like the dishwasher, drier, or washing machine during ‘off-peak’ or even ‘super off-peak’ hours when demand is low could help reduce your monthly costs.1
Our main goal is to put the control back in your hands. When the energy system works for people, choices become simpler, and your home becomes much more than just a place that uses power – it becomes a smart hub that could save you money.
