We have some exciting news to share! For the second year in a row, E.ON UK – including E.ON Next, npower Business Solutions, and E.ON Energy Infrastructure Solutions – has been recognised as one of the UK’s leading employers, ranking in the Top 10 Best Places to Work overall in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2026 awards.

We’ve also been Highly Commended in the Best Places to Work for Women category, recognising our ongoing focus on widening opportunity, supporting progression, and creating a workplace where women can thrive.

Our Chief Executive of E.ON UK, Chris Norbury, sums it up:

“Great workplaces are built by great people – and this award reflects that. The fact this recognition comes straight from our people makes it incredibly meaningful.

Every day, colleagues across E.ON use their skills, ideas and care to support customers, communities and the UK’s energy transition. This recognition reflects a culture where people feel valued, included and able to grow, and I’m immensely proud of the teams who make E.ON such a positive place to build skills and make a real difference.”

What is the Sunday Times Best Places to Work award?

The Sunday Times Best Places to Work is now in its fourth year and votes are cast through a survey of more than 200,000 staff spanning 25 industry sectors across the UK – from law firms to fast food chains to the energy sector.

Based entirely on colleague feedback, this recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to helping create an inclusive, forward‑thinking and purpose driven workplace, where we want to support colleagues to grow their careers and make a meaningful difference every day.

Making the top 10 for a second consecutive year (we were named best place to work for young people in the UK in 2025) tells us we’re moving in the right direction. It proves that purpose and performance go hand in hand. Keeping our teams engaged means they can go above and beyond to support you – and that’s important to us!

Building a ‘people first’ culture where everyone belongs.

Building a great workplace isn't about ticking boxes. We believe it’s about an ongoing long-term investment in our people. Our culture is built on a simple foundation: inclusion, safety, and wellbeing. We are committed to supporting our colleagues as whole people and not just as employees.

Here’s how we’re turning that commitment into action all across the UK.

Together we’re driving the net zero energy transition.

Our colleagues are right at the forefront of tackling climate change and delivering the UK's transition towards cleaner power. Every day, our teams are working on projects that make a big difference to our communities, including:

  • Simplifying tech: Developing smart digital tools that help you understand your energy choices without the headache.

  • Upgrading infrastructure: Delivering vital energy efficiency upgrades in local hospitals, schools, and high streets.

  • Pioneering low carbon trials: Running innovative schemes, like our home battery project in Coventry, which is helping households save up to £300 a year on their energy bills.

To keep this momentum going and create more purposeful, skilled jobs, we’ve pledged to invest £2 billion into the UK's energy system and digital infrastructure over this decade.

Championing diversity and inclusion from the ground up.

It’s important to us that our workplace reflects the diverse communities we serve. True inclusion means listening to real, lived experiences, which is why we are incredibly proud of our inclusion records:

  • A decade of inclusion: We’ve appeared in the Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers List for ten consecutive years.

  • Colleague-led networks: Over 4,500 of our team are active members of nine inclusion networks. These groups support everything from menopause and fertility to disability inclusion, LGBTQ+ equality and neurodiversity.

  • Removing workplace barriers: These networks play a vital role in shaping our company policies, ensuring women and underrepresented groups face fewer barriers across all life stages and career paths.

Upskilling our people for the future.

We’re all about growing careers and building new skillsets, which is why we provide flexible, open learning opportunities so our teams can thrive at any stage of their career. These opportunities include:

  • Apprenticeship opportunities: Since 2018, more than 1,200 colleagues have taken part in over 100 different apprenticeship programmes.

  • Development networks: We run five dedicated development networks to widen access to reskilling, particularly in areas where we need greater representation and progression.

  • A modern future: We’re investing heavily in digital and data capabilities. This doesn't just help our people step up in their careers, but it also builds the skilled workforce needed to modernise the entire UK energy system.
