Your solar panel FAQs.
Does E.ON Next provide solar and battery finance?
E.ON Next does not offer finance for solar panels and batteries.
Is it sunny enough to have solar panels in the UK?
Despite the UK's reputation, we actually get more than enough solar energy to make solar panels a good investment for your home, even on cloudy days.
Why should I add a battery to my solar panel system?
Adding a battery to your package lets you store the energy that you generate in the day for later, helping to make your home more self-sufficient and possibly saving you money.
Do I need to get planning permission for solar panels?
Adding solar panels to your home is classed as 'permitted development' in the UK. Therefore, standard solar panel installations don't require planning permission. Planning permission should be obtained if your home is a listed building or World Heritage Site, or if the installation doesn't meet standard guidelines.
Is my roof suitable for solar panels?
You home could have solar panels fitted if it faces south, east or west. However, north-facing roofs don't receive as much sunlight and won't be as efficient. The pitch of your roof should be between 20° and 50°.
Can I get help with paying for solar panels?
Depending on where you live in the UK, your circumstances, and the type of home you have, you may qualify for grants or schemes that can help with paying for solar panels. Answer a few quick questions in our Grant Finder tool and see if you're eligible.
The legal bit.
