Yes - The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) is a government team working to support the transition to zero-emission vehicles. They provide a grant of up to £350 (including VAT) towards the cost of buying and installing a home charger. You’re eligible for an EV charger grant if you own or use an electric vehicle, you live in a flat or rent your home and you have your own private off-street parking space.

No two installations are exactly the same, so to start with we give you a basic price for a charger with standard installation, where all of the following apply:

• The charger and electricity meter:

  • have no more than 2 walls between them.

  • need max 10m cable to connect them.

  • cables run straight through walls and are surface mounted, up to 1.8m high.

• Your electricity meter is indoors or there's somewhere suitable indoors to install charger protection equipment.

• Your Wi-Fi has a strong enough signal to connect to.

• Single-phase installation (standard in most UK homes).

• The charger will be mounted on a brick or plaster wall, with private off-street parking.

• It will take 4 hours or less to install.

Your distribution network operator (DNO) or electricity supplier (if you're not supplied by E.ON Next) may need to carry out extra work. These costs won't be covered in our quote and you'll be responsible for paying them.

No - anyone can get a charger quote from us. It doesn't matter who supplies your energy, we can still install a charger for you (though why wouldn't you want to be with us?)

Well, you can, but we wouldn't recommend it. A wall socket isn't as powerful as a dedicated electric vehicle charger, so it would take much longer to charge your car this way. There's also safety to consider - our electric vehicle chargers are built to withstand all weather conditions so you don't have to worry about charging in the rain.

Yes, we only install smart chargers which can be locked using our free E.ON Home app. So don't worry, your charger is safe and secure, even when you're not around.

In line with current regulation your EV charger will default to operate within the following times:

• 22:00 – 08:00

• 11:00 – 16:00

When charging outside of the schedule, your charger will blink green/blue for five minutes to signify awaiting schedule start. This can be overridden by tapping your RFID card on the location indicated on the front of your charger.

To confirm, when starting a charge either in or out of a charging schedule:

• A randomised delay to the start of the charging will take place and can be for up to 10 minutes.

• This is signified by a green blinking light until the charging starts.

• This delay can be overridden by a double tap of your RFID card on the location indicated on the front of your charger.

Whilst your charger is covered by its comprehensive warranty or maintenance agreement, there may be times we need to send a new firmware update to your charger. This will improve its performance, fix bugs and make new features available.

We'll only send fully-tested and approved firmware, and the process typically takes only 15 minutes.

• If you're a residential customer, when a new firmware is available you'll be notified in the compatible app,** and you'll have the option to update your charger.

• If you're a business customer, when a new firmware is available your registered Charger Managers will be notified via email. They'll be sent a direct link to your dashboard where they'll be able to apply the new update to your charger(s).

Note: E.ON Drive can only deploy new firmware when a charger is connected to a suitable network such as WiFi (where applicable, cellular/hardwired) and your charger's not in use.

Your E.ON Drive charger fully complies with The Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021. The key highlights of this include:

• Tamper Protection: If anyone attempts to physically gain access to the internal components of the charger, you'll be notified via the compatible app** if you're a residential customer, or via email if you're a business customer. Depending on the make and model, the charger may also have an LED indicator.

• Unauthorised firmware detection: Only E.ON approved firmware can be sent to your charger. In the unlikely attempt that firmware is deployed from another source, your charger is not only clever enough to block it, but also warn you via the compatible app** or by email.

Go to the Wallbox app and click on the Settings cogwheel (top right corner), tap on Solar Charging (under Energy Features) and switch the toggle button on to the setting you prefer.

Currently, these features are only available for new installations from 28 April 2025. However, we may explore the possibility of offering an upgrade option in the future. Stay tuned for updates!

Yes! You can use the solar features during the day, but you’ll need to toggle them off before your overnight schedule begins to ensure your charging aligns with your tariff.

No, all new Wallbox installations from 22 April 2025 will include solar features at no additional cost.
