We have some brilliant news to share with you. We are absolutely thrilled to announce that E.ON Next has officially achieved not one, but two Uswitch Flex Accreditations for 2026.
This new accreditation scheme from Uswitch recognises energy suppliers that are supporting customers in demand-side flexibility, which means adjusting when you use power to help the grid. It is all about celebrating schemes and tariffs that actively help households save money by shifting their energy use to off-peak times, without locking them into rigid terms.
Two of our flexible time of use tariffs, Next Smart Saver and Next Drive, have been recognised for meeting these rigorous standards. For us, this is a proud milestone that reinforces our commitment to building a smarter, cleaner, and more reliable energy future for the UK.
As the UK moves towards a more sustainable future, how we use electricity is changing. The Uswitch Flex Accreditation was introduced to help consumers easily identify the energy suppliers putting power back into the hands of the customer.
Led by a panel of independent industry experts, the accreditation evaluates how effectively suppliers reward households for moving their energy consumption away from peak hours. To achieve this badge of honour, energy providers must meet strict criteria. Suppliers need to offer cheaper rates when national demand is at its lowest, allow customers to easily view their usage data and accrued savings, and provide the freedom to opt out without facing any financial penalties.
Receiving this external validation alongside a national Uswitch press release is incredibly exciting. It lets our current customers know they are in safe, innovative hands, while showing those looking to switch that real savings and sustainability go hand in hand at E.ON Next.
We believe that flexible energy should fit naturally into your daily routine. That is why we are so proud that two of our specialised tariffs have received this official stamp of approval.
Our Next Smart Saver tariff is designed for households looking to keep their energy bills in check through simple, smart adjustments. By using a smart meter, this tariff gives you the transparency and tools you need to shift your electricity use to cheaper, off-peak periods. Whether that means running your washing machine later in the evening or setting the dishwasher to run overnight, small changes can add up to noticeable savings on your bills.
For electric vehicle drivers, managing charging costs is a top priority. Our Next Drive fixed tariff provides a dedicated solution for eco-conscious motorists. It offers fixed, lower energy rates during the night, allowing you to plug in your EV and charge up while you sleep. You wake up with a full battery and a happier wallet, knowing you are bypassing the expensive peak daytime hours.
Demand-side flexibility is a bit of a technical phrase, but the core idea behind it is incredibly simple and powerful. It is about working together to balance the UK energy grid.
During peak times, usually between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM, millions of homes across the country are cooking dinner, watching television, and washing clothes all at once. This creates a massive spike in electricity demand. To meet this surge, the grid often has to rely on extra fossil fuel backup power stations.
By choosing a flexible tariff and shifting some of your heavier electricity use to off-peak times, you are playing a direct role in easing that strain. It is a genuine win-win. You could pocket real savings on your bills, while helping to reduce the country's reliance on fossil fuels.
“Securing the Uswitch flex accreditation for both Next Smart Saver and Next Drive Fixed is a fantastic double achievement for E.ON Next”, says Ramona Vlasiu, COO. “This independent recognition validates our focus on customer-centric innovation. We want to make it as easy and rewarding as possible for UK households to engage with flexible energy, helping them cut costs while actively supporting a cleaner grid.”
The landscape of home energy is evolving fast, and customer satisfaction across the industry is climbing as people discover the benefits of smart, flexible choices. According to a recent Uswitch survey of 15,000 energy customers, overall satisfaction has hit its highest level in five years, with nearly four-fifths of people saying they would happily recommend their provider.
We want to keep that positive momentum going. If you are a tech-savvy homeowner, an EV driver, or simply someone looking to take control of your monthly outgoings, our accredited tariffs are built with your lifestyle in mind.
