Battery Boost FAQs.
When will Battery Boost be available in my area?
We select locations based on grid requirements and local demand. By registering your interest, you ensure you’ll be the first to know when your area is chosen. Our first trial locations will be announced during the summer of 2026.
What benefits will I receive as part of Battery Boost?
Once your battery is installed, you will see two key updates on your monthly bill:
A £20.83 monthly credit: We’ll add a "Battery Boost" credit to your bill every month as a thank-you for hosting the battery, which adds up to a £250 annual benefit.
Export credits: You will see a new line on your bill for electricity sent back to the grid. This matches the cost of the electricity used to charge the battery in the first place, meaning the extra energy used to charge it balances out on your bill.
The proportion of your electricity from renewable sources will increase and your home will help to balance the energy system, supporting the energy transition.²
All batteries lose a small amount of energy when charging and discharging. This can add between £1 and £3 to your monthly bill, but this is fully offset by your £20.83 monthly credit, leaving you with a net saving.
By participating, you’ll increase the proportion of your electricity from renewable sources and help balance the energy grid, directly supporting the UK’s energy transition.
How big is the battery, and where is it installed?
Our largest batteries are roughly the size of a large suitcase (115cm x 60cm x 28cm). They are typically mounted on an external wall, though in some cases, they can be installed in a garage or utility room.
Do I need to do anything to operate the battery?
No. We manage the battery entirely on your behalf—no apps or in-home displays are required. Occasionally, we may request a visit at your convenience to perform routine maintenance or system checks.
Are there any additional costs?
No. The survey, equipment, installation, and ongoing maintenance are all provided at no cost to you. The only potential charge is an exit fee if you cancel the agreement within the first year.
What happens if I move or want to cancel my Battery Boost tariff?
After the first 12 months, you can cancel your agreement for free, and we will remove the battery at no cost. If you choose to cancel within the first 12 months, an exit fee applies to cover the initial installation costs. Specific fee details will be provided when Battery Boost launches in your area.
Does it cost anything to join the waitlist?
No. Registering your interest is completely free and carries no obligation to proceed.
The legal bit.
¹ Accepted customers can receive up to £250 in energy bill credits towards their energy bill over 12 months, paid as monthly bill credits of £20.83. If you leave the Battery Boost scheme before completing the 12-month term, you’ll receive only the credits applied up to your leaving date. There is no upfront cost for the battery or its installation. If you leave during the initial 12-month term, you will be charged an exit fee of £250 to partially cover the cost of removing the battery from your home. If you wish to leave after your 12-month term comes to an end, a £0 exit fee will apply. Exit fees to tariffs may apply. Full eligibility and T&Cs apply.
² Homes relying on scheduled off-peak overnight battery imports will consume a 12-25% greater proportion of renewables than homes drawing energy from the grid at standard peak times.
