Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to switch energy supplier?
It can take up to 5 working days for your electricity and/or gas supply to move over to your new energy supplier. You’ll also have a 14-day cooling-off period, in case you change your mind and want to stay with your current energy supplier.
Your options will differ depending on whether you join your new energy supplier in your cooling-off period or not.
What are exit fees?
You'll sometimes pay exit fees if you try to leave a fixed rate tariff before the end of your contract. When you sign up for an energy deal, make sure you check how much the exit fees are for one or both fuels.
If you're on a variable tariff then you won't have exit fees and are able to switch to a fixed rate tariff or change supplier whenever you want to.
Do I need a smart meter to get an energy deal?
Some energy suppliers do ask that you get a smart meter fitted or have one already if you're signing up for particular tariffs. If you do go for one of these tariffs, then we'll be in touch with you to book your smart meter appointment.
What happens if I change my mind about my tariff?
All of our tariffs come with a cooling-off period of 14 days, in which you can change your mind and switch back to your original tariff or energy supplier. According to Ofgem, this is for domestic customers only and not for business customers.
