You could be eligible to join our FlatSave trial.

It's a simple way to earn up to £160 a year just by signing up. Eligible E.ON Next supply customers can earn up to £160 a year, and eligible customers with other suppliers can earn up to £80 a year. Terms and conditions apply.

We're on a mission to make renewable energy accessible to everyone and reduce bills where it's needed most. People living in flats haven't always been able to benefit from solar panels and batteries, so we're here to change that.

How the trial works.

We're launching a trial that combines solar panels with a shared battery for residents in your building. We're looking for people in your block to take part.

Solar panels and batteries could help reduce your bills in three ways:

  • Solar panels on your roof generate clean energy, which you get for free.

  • A shared battery stores electricity when prices are low.

  • The battery releases that energy to power your flat when prices are high.

The trial is open to you whether you're an E.ON Next supply customer or not.

Why join the FlatSave trial?

  • Receive £160 if you are already an E.ON Next supply customer or you join E.ON Next for your electricity supply, or £80 if you stay with a different supplier. Terms and conditions apply.

  • Use energy as normal with no lifestyle changes or tariff changes needed.

  • We don't need access to your home and nothing is installed inside your flat.

How to sign up.

1Enter your contact details.

Register your interest by filling in this form. If you are already an E.ON Next supply customer you can call 0808 501 5200 or email hi@eonnext.com.

2Consultation.

We'll call you to talk through the trial, answer your questions, and discuss your options.

3Provide your consent.

We'll ask you to confirm you're happy to take part. This gives us consent to use your meter to charge the battery at no cost to you.

4Receive cash savings.

  • We can't sign you up if you have a prepayment meter.

  • We reserve the right to cancel the trial at any time.

Frequently asked questions about the FlatSave trial.

Do I need to be an E.ON Next supply customer?

No, you don't need to be with us to take part. You can stay with your current supplier. If you'd like to switch to E.ON Next, we can chat about your options.

Will I get paid more if I switch to E.ON Next?

If you switch to us or are already a supply customer, you'll be eligible for a payment of up to £160. You'll get a £80 payment and another £80 after six months if you stay with us. If you stay with your current supplier, you'll be eligible for up to £80 in total.

Will I be charged for using the battery?

No, you won't be charged for using the battery during the trial. The battery may be charged through your meter, which will be counted on your energy bill, but you get this energy back for later.

If, for some reason, more energy from your meter is used to charge the battery than is sent back to it, then we will refund you for this on top of the £80 or £160.

For E.ON Next supply customers, we will make these refunds on your monthly bill. If you are with other suppliers we will refund you via the Yesty platform every 3 months.

Do I have to change tariff?

No, you can stay on your current tariff. We'll discuss this with you during sign-up.

Do I need a smart meter?

A smart meter isn't essential to join. However, if you want to get paid for exporting excess solar energy, you'll need a Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) tariff and a SMETS2 smart meter. If you aren’t sure what meter you have then let us know and we can discuss your meter when you register your interest in the trial.

Will my bill change?

Your bill will look the same as it does now. If you're an E.ON Next supply customer, you might see occasional credits to cover any energy you've provided to the battery but didn't get back. This ensures you're never out of pocket. You might also notice your consumption is lower because you're using free solar and battery power.

Why do you need my tariff and bill info if I'm not a customer?

We want to make sure you're properly compensated for any grid charges or energy you provide to the battery. Your specific tariff impacts this, so we need these details to get the sums right.

How do I opt out?

You can leave at any point during the cooling-off period. After that, you'll just need to give us the notice period agreed in your terms and conditions.

How long is the trial?

The trial lasts for up to 12 months from the day we install the battery.

What happens when the trial ends?

You'll still receive free solar energy. Your EPC rating won't be affected. The battery will either be removed, the trial will be extended, or it'll be converted into a new scheme. We'll keep you updated on the results.

Can I get paid for energy sent back to the grid?

Depending on your agreement with your housing provider, you may be able to get paid for electricity sent back to the grid.

How do I know I'm getting back the energy I put in?

We'll discharge energy from the battery to your flat based on your demand. To keep things fair, we'll refund the equivalent of any unused amount. This will be a bill credit for our customers or a payment via a Yesty account for others. You'll get a quarterly statement showing exactly what you contributed and received.

Will my EPC rating improve?

Yes, the solar installation should lift your EPC rating to C or above. This measures the energy efficiency of your home and helps meet government targets.

Do I get solar energy for free?

Yes, all tenants get free solar energy. You don't even need to be part of the trial to benefit from the panels.

Will it cost me if the battery charges through my meter?

No, we'll make sure any grid charges are refunded through your trial payment, bill credits, or Yesty payments.

I have a prepayment meter, can I sign up?

Unfortunately not. Prepayment meters aren't part of this first trial.

I'm a leaseholder or private tenant, can I sign up?

Yes, all residents are eligible as long as you don't have a prepayment meter.

Do you need access to my flat?

The panels go on the roof and the battery stays in a communal area. We may need to access your flat if your meter is located within the flat, we will discuss with you if you are interested in the trial. We'll let you know when installation is happening, but we'll keep disruption to a minimum.

Do I need to change how I use my appliances?

No, you can keep using your washing machine and other appliances exactly as you do now. No lifestyle changes are needed.

Will my medical equipment be affected?

Not at all. Your energy demand will be met through your standard supply, solar, or the battery. It's completely safe for devices like dialysis machines.

If I leave the trial, will I still get paid?

You'll get the first payment, but if you leave before six months, you won't be eligible for the second instalment.

I pay by Direct Debit, will I need to change this?

There's no need to change anything. We'll adjust your payments if your consumption drops, just like we do normally.

How will I receive the trial payment?

You will be emailed a Choice Card from Yesty, which you can redeem to receive your trial payment directly into your bank account.
