If you have solar panels and a storage battery installed at home and want to maximise the savings you could make on your energy bills, then we’ve got good news. We’ve introduced the Next Smart Saver tariff, which means you could unlock cheaper electricity at certain times of day compared to our standard variable tariff.1
Our Next Smart Saver tariff is a time of use tariff. Essentially, this means you’ll be charged different amounts for electricity depending on the time of day you use it. You can recharge your solar battery at cheaper times of day and store this electricity to use later, when it might otherwise be more expensive. This stored electricity also comes in handy when your solar panels aren’t generating enough power on their own, such as overnight.
Our new tariff gives you the freedom to use electricity at a lower price (pence per kilowatt hour unit rates) than our standard variable tariff during ‘off-peak’ hours of 5am-4pm and 7pm-2am, and during ‘super off-peak’ hours of 2am-5am, whilst charging a higher price during ‘peak’ hours of 4pm-7pm.
You can use our nifty E.ON Next app to set your solar battery to recharge automatically during off-peak hours when you’ll probably be asleep. Once that’s done, you can maximise your savings without needing to lift a finger.
Cheaper electricity will always come in handy, but that’s not all this tariff has to offer. As this is a fixed tariff, you’ll also have the peace of mind knowing that your prices won’t change for the length of the tariff, making it easier to plan and budget ahead. And to make things even better, there are no exit fees so you can change your mind any time you like.
Plus, if you sign up to the Next Smart Saver tariff, we’ll also make a donation to the Woodland Trust, the UK's largest woodland conservation charity.2
To be eligible for the Next Smart Saver, you will need to:
Have a smart meter and agree to us collecting data every half hour. This is so you’re charged the right amount for the electricity you use.
Pay by Direct Debit.
Manage your energy account online. This is even easier with our app.
Whether you already have a solar battery or are looking to buy one, it’s simple to sign up to the Next Smart Saver tariff and maximise the savings you could enjoy with solar. If you haven’t yet bought a solar battery or package, remember they can:
Improve your energy independence. Solar battery storage means you don’t need to rely as much on the grid. Generating and storing your own electricity helps to protect you from sudden, unexpected price changes in the energy market.
Help you save money. Harnessing the sun's energy and storing it for later use can lead to cost savings in the long run. Not only does it mean you pay less for electricity, but you can also earn when you sell any excess power back to the grid.
Support the environment. A solar package is a renewable, low carbon source of electricity - helping you to reduce the carbon footprint of your home energy. In fact, the average home would save around a tonne of carbon every year by installing solar panels3 (exact savings vary by location).
Ready to take the next step in your solar journey? Sign up for the Next Smart Saver tariff today and take control of your solar savings.
