Heat pump grants in Britain.
In England and Wales, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) offers a grant of up to £7,500 for installing heat pumps. This initiative aims to encourage the adoption of low-carbon heating systems across the country, helping to meet the UK's climate targets.
Heat pump grants in Scotland.
The Scottish government supports various schemes to promote the use of heat pumps, including an interest free loan up to £7,500, and the Home Energy Scotland (HES) grant of £7,500 (up to £9,000 for rural homes.) These grants help offset the costs of installing heat pumps, making them a viable option even in colder climates.
Heat pump grants in Wales.
The Welsh government is committed to reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency, providing financial incentives to encourage the adoption of sustainable heating solutions. As well as the BUS, they have the ECO4 scheme for families in fuel poverty.

Northern Ireland also has support schemes for heat pump installations. The Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP) provides funding to help homeowners and businesses upgrade to more energy-efficient heating systems, including heat pumps.
Who is eligible for a heat pump grant?
Eligibility for a heat pump grant depends on a few things, including where you live, the type of heat pump you want, and how you heat your home at the moment. Generally, grants are available to homeowners and small businesses looking to replace old, inefficient boilers with modern heat pumps.
Eligibility for a grant.

To qualify for a grant, you must use an MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) accredited installer, like us! It's worth checking if we can install heat pumps in your area, including Northern Ireland and Scotland, to ensure your grant application ticks all the boxes.
Property eligibility.
Your property must also qualify for a heat pump grant. This usually means having decent insulation and meeting other energy efficiency standards to make sure the heat pump will work effectively.
EPC eligibility.
An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is often needed when you apply for a heat pump grant. Your property must meet minimum EPC ratings to qualify, ensuring your home’s energy-efficient and ready for a heat pump.
Can I get an air source heat pump grant?
Yes, as a resident of the UK you can get a grant for an air source heat pump. Eligibility criteria does apply, but if you live in England or Wales for example, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers up to £7,500 for air source heat pumps, so it’s worth checking what grants and incentives are available where you live.

If you’re already receiving payments through the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), you could still be eligible for the new heat pump grants. What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is part of more than £3.9bn of funding announced in the Heat and Buildings Strategy to help cut carbon emissions from homes.
